Our founder, T.C. Lackey II, D.O., oversees all the Florida Lakes Vein Center locations and provides excellent, patient-focused care.
He boasts an impressive history, having attended Georgetown College for his undergrad and earning his medical degree at West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine. He visited Spartanburg Regional Medical Center for an internship, then Vanderbilt University, and finally the University of Florida, Jacksonville, for his surgical residency.
This journey led him to open Florida Lakes Vein Center, and now, to lead the team as a vein specialist near Sarasota with laser focus on patient needs and comfort. He is a certified VenaSeal and Varithena trainer, making our clinic the only teaching facility in the region.

She has a Master of Science in physician assistant studies from the University of the Cumberlands, as well as a Bachelor of Science in biomedical science from Georgetown College. Spider Veins
Many adults around 30 to 50 years old experience spider veins, but they can appear on anyone. More often than not, spider veins are purely a cosmetic worry, but they can indicate early signs of vein disease.
Spider veins appear as red, blue, or purple web-like formations (telangiectasias) at the surface of the skin, and they form due to damaged blood vessels. Often, spider veins have no symptoms at all, but they can cause minor discomfort.
Rare symptoms include:

- Heaviness or tiredness in the legs

The active ingredient in the injection closes off the veins, redirecting blood to the surrounding healthier veins. Sclerotherapy reduces the appearance of unwanted veins through easy and tolerable injections.
Varithena
For varicose veins close to the skin’s surface, we use Varithena, a polidocanol foam solution that collapses a damaged vein and encourages blood flow to travel to healthier veins. We inject the solution to irritate the vein, causing it to collapse. This treatment, performed by a vein specialist near Sarasota in our office, takes around 30 minutes.
Many patients receive 4 treatments of Varithena, but our providers recommend a specific number of sessions based on your unique situation.
VenaSeal
Instead of using a foam solution like Varithena, VenaSeal utilizes a medical adhesive to seal off each troublesome vein and provide symptom relief. Our team uses VenaSeal for deeper varicose veins, as the glue solution leads to scar tissue formation around the affected vein. In one 20- to 30-minute session, patients experience an improvement in vein health.
Our providers use a syringe full of VenaSeal and a dispensing gun attached to a catheter. With ultrasound guidance, they place the catheter in the varicose vein and dispense VenaSeal along various points of the vein.
Wound Care
If you have a venous ulcer, caring for the wound properly helps the sore heal. Our team cleans the area and provides wound care, which usually consists of a protective dressing.
We educate you on how to continue care at home by changing the dressings and protecting the skin. Together, we work to optimize your healing and recovery from venous ulcers.
