How Sclerotherapy Works
Sclerotherapy effectively treats spider veins and varicose veins by using a liquid called sclerosant to collapse the unhealthy veins and seal them off for good.
Your provider may use ultrasound during the procedure to help accurately identify and treat the veins. Your provider will inject sclerosant to close off the damaged veins, and the blood naturally redirects to healthier ones.

Whether or not your insurance covers sclerotherapy depends on your provider. You will have to check with your insurance provider for more information on coverage. Without coverage, sclerotherapy costs $300 per visit.
While there is little downtime, the veins might appear darker for around a week, and there may be minor bruising, swelling, and sensitivity for a few weeks. Your skin will be more sensitive to the sun, so we recommend avoiding exposure for a couple of weeks. In most cases, after 6 to 8 weeks, the treated varicose veins disappear.
