There are many specialized ultrasounds for parts of the body, such as an echocardiogram for the heart. At Florida Lakes Vein Center, we primarily use two types of ultrasound:
- Doppler ultrasound: Doppler ultrasound assesses blood flow to find any areas where there may be malfunctioning valves, poor blood circulation, or blood clots.
- Duplex ultrasound: Duplex ultrasound combines Doppler with regular ultrasound to provide images of both vein structure and blood flow.
